Music by Michel Godard & perfumes by Ursula S. Yeo – Jazz, Improvisation and the sound of perfume: a synaesthetic music project between Jazz, Early Music and the magic of scent.

About the album

Perfume makers and musicians use a similar language. They speak of chords, of notes, of harmony. Michel Godard and perfume maker Ursula S. Yeo have created a dialogue between sound and fragrance. The perfume maker created her „chords“ according to the original compositions by Michel Godard. During the recording sessions, Ms Yeo’s different perfume creations were spread out in the room, giving the musicians the possibility to “respond”: This is how the improvisations on this album came to life.

For the realization of the music, jazz musician Michel Godard invited some of his best musician friends, including baroque recorder player Sebastien Marq, the only non-jazz musician in the group, who brings the sound and spirit of Early Music into this meeting of most special musical identities. Inspired by the perfumes made for the music and the space, they create a truly boundary-free music that spans centuries of human creativity and sensitivity.
