Collection: Hirundo Maris

In 2009, within the enchanting city of Basel, Switzerland, Arianna Savall and Petter Udland Johansen joined forces to establish Hirundo Maris, an ensemble dedicated to the rich tapestry of early music spanning from the Middle Ages to the Baroque era. Additionally, they embarked on crafting their own original compositions, exploring the captivating realm of early fusion. At the heart of their creative journey lies a harmonious blend of Mediterranean and Nordic musical traditions, a testament to their profound and enduring musical partnership. Much like migratory birds, they embark on a musical odyssey, tracing the historical pathways that have connected Scandinavia to the Iberian Peninsula for countless generations.

Hirundo Maris is a regular presence at prestigious festivals throughout Europe, including the renowned Stanser Musiktage in Switzerland, Cologne's Fest für Alte Musik, the Jazz in Church Festival in Bucharest, Romania, the Menuhin Festival Gstaad in Switzerland, the Bachwochen Thun, and the captivating Styriarte Festival in Austria. Their music has also resonated at international events such as the All'Improvviso Festival in Poland, the Oslo Kirkemusikk Festivalen, the ethereal Nordlysfestivalen (Northern Lights Festival) in Tromsø, Norway, the Festival de Dinan in Brittany, the alluring Seduced by Harps in Belgium, the Sentmenat International Harp Festival in Catalonia, the Arp Sanati Dergi Festival in Istanbul, Turkey, and the Festival de Fontfroide and Philippe Maillard Productions in the vibrant city of Paris, among many others.
