Collection: More Hispano

The More Hispano ensemble is one of the most innovative groups on the European early music scene. Founded in 1998 under the direction of Spanish recorder player and researcher Vicente Parrilla, the ensemble focuses in particular on the music of the 16th and early 17th centuries, as well as the historical art of improvisation and diminution.

A distinctive feature of More Hispano is the combination of historical performance practice with spontaneous musical interpretation. The ensemble views Renaissance and early Baroque music as a living, improvisational art form and uses this approach to create performances of extraordinary expressiveness and sonic freedom. International critics have repeatedly highlighted the group’s virtuosity and communicative energy.

Artistic Profile

More Hispano’s repertoire encompasses Spanish Renaissance and early Baroque music, historical improvisation, and vocal-instrumental programs from the Siglo de Oro. Their interpretations are characterized by historically informed performance practice, improvisational freedom and virtuoso ornamentation and diminution. With this approach, More Hispano occupies a unique position within the international early music scene.
